The world’s most luxurious fashion items
Sometimes, fashion can be so outrageous that we wonder how far it’ll go. See-through plastic jeans, cowboy sandals, fringed jackets, detachable pants, sock heels – you name it! There always seems to be something that will surprise us every once in a while.
A part of fashion that we common folks find hard to understand is how ridiculously expensive some items are – and how wealthy people are actually willing to buy them!
Wondering what the craziest luxury fashion items are? Keep reading to discover some of them.
Diamond purse
Imagine a purse that’s even more expensive than what you can fit in it. That’s exactly what Mouawad, a Swiss and Emirati high jewellery company, has created!
Featuring a heart-shaped 18-karat gold handbag, encrusted with 56 pink diamonds, 105 yellow diamonds and 4,356 clear diamonds, there’s nothing less you can expect from the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse. In fact, it set the Guinness World Record for the most expensive handbag that’s ever existed!
Currently, this one-off statement piece is up for private sale at Christie’s Auctions with a staggering original price of USD 3.8 million (AUD 5.5 million).
Unless you’re Jeff Bezos-rich (he’s the owner of Amazon and currently the world’s richest person, by the way) or somewhere near that level, owning this is definitely out of the woods for you. That is, if you’re even interested. With this money, you can build several mansions, you know?
Pink diamond ring
When it comes to extravagant diamond rings, pieces with pink diamonds are hard to miss. They are some of the rarest coloured gemstones after all.
The fairest of them all is the Pink Star diamond ring. It holds the record for the most expensive ring ever sold at an auction!

Like Mouawad’s stunning purse, the Pink Star is the only one of its kind and was sold at a whopping USD 71.2 million (AUD 103 million), owing to the gem’s incredible size, internally flawless characteristic and unique fancy vivid hue.
You can only wish upon a star to get a hold of a diamond as magnificent as this beauty. But we’re sure you’ll find a more reasonably-priced pink diamond ring out there. Pink looks even more stunning in a rose gold engagement ring too!
Rose gold handbag

Is that crocodile leather? Well, it’s meant to resemble it, but this gorgeous miniature handbag is actually made of rose gold. You won’t even need to put on jewellery as it can double as a bracelet!
We all know Hermes, a popular high fashion brand, for their intricate designs, but this luxury handbag takes their craft to a whole new level.
Unlike the usual handbags, the Hermes Kelly is made out of rose gold designed to resemble crocodile leather. Plus, it’s adorned with 1,160 diamonds – so its USD 2 million (AUD 2.9 million) price tag is not completely surprising. And mind you, only twelve of these were made, adding to the prestige that comes with owning this item.
However, this handbag (if you can call it that) is too small to even fit a pair of sunglasses, so unless you’re crazy rich, why bother?
Multi-coloured diamond watch
Diamonds are forever indeed. What better way to show its timelessness than to set them on a watch?
Valued at an astonishing USD 55 million (AUD 80 million), the Graff Diamonds Hallucination features the world’s rarest fancy coloured diamonds: vivid yellow, intense pink, intense blue, light pink, light grey blue, intense blue, green and orange. The gemstones’ various cuts makes the piece even more enchanting. Only someone brave would risk wearing this super valuable piece!
Thankfully so, the Hallucination is not for sale. Instead, it will forever remain to be a symbol of innovation and excellence for the British jewellery company.
Gold heels
If you have a pair of gold shoes, would you even let them touch the ground and risk damaging them? Probably not. Not when they cost USD 17 million (AUD 24.5 million)!
Designed by Debbie Wingham and created by Jada Dubai, the Passion Diamond Shoes has become the new record holder for the world’s most expensive shoes. What makes these golden heels even more luxurious is that they’re embellished with radiant diamonds.
If you ever miraculously come across a whole lot of money and decide to buy a pair, these heels can be made to order according to your size.
Diamond belt
Gucci, a highly acclaimed fashion brand known for their luxury statement items, yet again went over the top and designed a USD 249,000 (AUD 360,000) belt – the Republica Fashion’s Gucci 30 Carat Diamond.

With 30-carat diamonds encrusted on the buckle, it is even more valuable than the actual Gucci-patterned belt. As for its function, we bet a belt from a thrift shop will do just as well as this luxury item.
Vicuña wool socks
Ever heard of vicuña wool? It’s harvested from an alpaca-like creature called vicuña and its fleece is considered as the rarest and most expensive wool. This is because these adorable creatures live in the Andes and can’t be domesticated, making their coat all the more valuable.
In general, vicuña wool can cost up to USD 3,000 (AUD 4,300) per metre, so it’s no wonder that Falke’s wool socks is priced at an astounding USD 1,188 (AUD 1,700)! And since it’s a very limited resource, only ten pairs were made.

It’s quite tempting to buy a pair as it’s said to be super soft, owing to the vicuña’s very delicate and fine fleece. But if it costs around a week’s worth of our salaries, no thanks!
Not to say that we can’t treat ourselves to something luxurious every once in a while, but these items have clearly crossed the line! Nonetheless, these have shown us how wonderful nature’s prized resources can be when crafted with creative minds.
