3 reasons why you shouldn't wear your ring in the kitchen
We get it – diamond rings are a joy to have. Their shine and sparkle make them so irresistible that we just don’t want to take them off!
However, that doesn’t mean that you should wear it every time and everywhere – especially in the kitchen.
When you’re going about your daily tasks in the kitchen, be sure to set aside your ring first. Here are the top reasons why you should.
It may dull the ring’s shine.
You may not notice – but oil and soap residue can build up over time, causing your precious ring to lose its brilliance.
Once solitaire diamond rings are caked with dirt, they won’t seem to be as elegant and radiant as they used to be.
Aside from this, you run the risk of developing all sorts of germs and bacteria on your ring, which may cause harmful diseases when left uncleaned.
It may get scratched.
As you constantly handle cutlery and scrub away tough grimes from pans, don’t get surprised if you discover several scratches on your jewellery piece!
Having scratches repaired may be quite expensive. In some cases, it may be irreparable, especially when it involves the gemstone.
If you’re wearing gloves, your ring is still not safe. The latex can get snagged on the prongs, putting unnecessary stress on the piece as it’s pulled.
It may fall down the drain.
The sink area is probably the busiest part of the kitchen. Whether you’re cooking or cleaning, using the tap and the sink is almost unavoidable.
As you’re washing your hands or cleaning up the dishes, your ring may slip off your finger and fall right down the drain. You can just hope that it didn’t end up in the sewers!
If this happens, it’s best to stop using the sink and call a plumber straight away to retrieve your ring from the drain.
