Although the classic go-to for most iconic celebrity engagement rings are diamonds, sapphire engagement rings still get much love and appreciation among other celebrities, and its appearance has spanned out across the history.

Even though a sapphire is known for having a vibrant and rich blue colour, several celebrities were spotted having either pink or yellow coloured sapphires, which are just as beautiful. However, some engagement rings are so beautiful and belonged to famous personalities that they will never be forgotten.
Probably the most iconic engagement ring ever belonged to Princess Diana. This iconic blue sapphire ring was then passed on when Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton. Although not the largest engagement ring known among celebrities and socialites, the 18-carat oval cut sapphire ring surrounded by 14 diamonds is highly valued due to its history.
When actor Javier Bardem proposed to Penelope Cruz, the actress was presented with a 3-carat bright blue sapphire that’s surrounded by a halo of small flower-shaped diamonds. Even though the stone on this engagement ring is not as big as others’, the vintage jewellery piece is estimated to cost around $30,000.
In 2011, English actress and model Elizabeth Hurley received her 9-carat square cut sapphire engagement ring, bordered by two 2-carat trillion cut diamonds from cricket player husband Shane Warne. During the proposal, it was said that Warne asked for Hurley’s hand in front of many other hotel guests in Road Hole Restaurant.
Former Spice Girls singer-turned designer Victoria Beckham is probably the queen when it comes to engagement rings, reportedly having received a total of 13 engagement rings from soccer player husband David Beckham within the 15 years of marriage. Beckham was spotted in 2009 rocking her round-cut blue sapphire engagement ring, especially known for having an evenly vibrant colour across the gemstone.
For Mary-Kate Olsen’s engagement ring, the sapphire gemstone is not the centre of the ring but rather 16 sapphires surround a 4-carat European-cut diamond. Mary-Kate’s engagement ring was bought from an auction for $81,250, which previously belonged to a Tennessee-based jewellery collector, dating back to 1953.
